We’re excited to announce the release of Ketryx Version 2.9! The release of this new version makes our connected lifecycle management system even more powerful for medical device software teams. The functionality in this version is focused on empowering users with the ability to not only work in connected tools (like Jira) but also work in Ketryx as a standalone system. Now, users can create and manage items in Ketryx and trace between those items through relationships suggested by AI.

Other updates include enhanced configuration which lets teams configure approval rules the way they want to, enhancements to eQMS functionality, and an API update making the data in Ketryx more accessible to other tools. Together, these changes ensure that you can keep your focus on life-saving innovation while Ketryx accelerates release timelines and assures quality and compliance.

Creating and editing items in Ketryx

We've improved the creation and editing of items directly within Ketryx, enabling single-system use for users who prefer to work in Ketryx. Users can now:

  • Create and edit items natively in Ketryx, and push those changes to connected systems like Jira.
  • Access updated item record details for easier navigation and editing.
  • Use AI-generated suggested traceability relationships between items, by pressing the 🪄 Suggest button next to a relation field. For instance, the affected items of a Change Request can be automatically suggested.

This update allows users to work within Ketryx for a more centralized and efficient experience, especially for those managing complex development processes across multiple tools. It also helps users easily establish relations between items to ensure end-to-end traceability.

Item record details

The Item Record Detail page has received a significant update in Version 2.9. This change improves both usability and navigation for users managing configuration items. Key enhancements include:

  • A new layout that simplifies understanding and navigation between records, making it easier to access critical information quickly.
  • Approval details and record history are now accessible from a sidebar for faster navigation without leaving the main item view.
Enhanced Item Record Detail page
  • The ability to create and edit items directly from the record detail page, allowing users to make changes faster and push those updates to connected systems.

This update is part of a broader initiative to generalize configuration items, ensuring a more streamlined and intuitive user experience across Ketryx.

eQMS: Enhanced approval configurability and EDMS search functionality

The approval system now provides more granularity and control over how approvals are managed, so you can perform your approval process the way you want to. Users can now:

  • Assign individual users to approve release documents and other item types.
    • Users can specify predefined groups or individuals who are responsible for reviewing and approving release documents before they can be finalized and implemented.
    • Users can also enforce the approval order in which the documents must be approved in accordance with their SOPs.
Configure approval rules for documents
  • Define custom rules for specific release documents.
    • Approval rules can be configured for individual document types, such as the System Requirements Specification document. If no specific rules are defined, the usual Release approval rules apply to release documents.
Configure approval rules for specific release documents
  • Override approval rules for individual configuration items.
    • Approval rules can also be configured for individual configuration items, from the item record detail page. These rules might involve approval groups or individual user approvals.

These changes are intended to provide a more structured and customizable approach to document and item approvals, improving overall efficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements.

We've further enhanced our eQMS (Electronic Quality Management System) by upgrading our EDMS (Electronic Document Management System) search capabilities:

  • Users can now search within documents for faster, more accurate information retrieval.
  • The search function indexes document content, improving document management for compliance and audits.

Enhanced test management

The Test Management page now includes information about test plan approvals, so it’s easy to see who still needs to approve the test plan before the project can progress.

Integrations via API

Ketryx 2.9 makes it easier to integrate our platform with the systems you already rely on. The new API support and webhook functionalities give users the flexibility to:

  • Integrate Ketryx with external systems such as dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Automate actions based on key events like milestones.

For example, after a milestone is completed, a webhook can populate items in an external system. This level of integration allows Ketryx to fit seamlessly into your broader DevOps toolchain, streamlining workflows and ensuring data flows where it’s needed.

Ketryx 2.9 lays the foundation for even greater configurability and integration. We’re continuing to work on new updates that will build on this release, providing more tools to help you develop software faster, ensure compliance, and maintain high quality standards.
